Iintroductory course

Learn to kayak with us.

In 2024 we will again organize introductory kayaking courses for new members and interested parties.
The course consists of: six lessons and you will learn the basics of kayaking in a fun and interactive way with a group of up to 8 participants.
The following introductory courses will take place in 2024:
  1. Group 1 starts on Saturday afternoon, April 20 at 2 p.m
  2. Group 2 starts on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2024 at 7:30 PM
  3. Group 3: starts Wednesday evening, June 19 at 7:30 PM
  4. Group 4: starts Saturday afternoon, August 31 at 2 p.m


The lessons last 2 hours each time. Lessons are taught by our team of experienced instructors.
You can sail your own boat or use one of our club boats.
We assume that you can swim and we wear life jackets during the lesson.

The cost for the introductory course is 60 euros. Members of KVS can participate free of charge.
The lesson takes place subject to weather conditions. In case of bad weather, another date will be planned.

Your participation is guaranteed after confirmation and payment of your registration.
If the group is full, we will place you on the waiting list or you can participate in the next group.

Lesinhoud

The following skills are taught during the lessons:

- Correct holding and use of the paddle
- Sailing straight forward and sailing backwards
- Making turns, forward and backward (bow strokes)
- Brake and make an emergency stop
- Get in & out at a low side and a high side
- Low paddle rests
- Make it smooth
- Move sideways

And of course you get the chance to try out various kayak types and species that are present at our association.

After the six lessons you will be able to sail independently and you are welcome to participate in the tours that we organize for our members in Nieuw-west and the region.

If you decide to become a member of our canoeing club, which we would of course like very much, you will receive half of the course fee as a discount on your membership.
