Canoe Club Sloterplas is the only canoe club in Amsterdam West, founded in 1972. We have our own accommodation on the beautiful Watersporteiland in the Sloterplas. On our site you will find boat sheds with more than 200 canoes and kayaks, a canteen and changing rooms and plenty of space for a picnic and BBQ. During club days (Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening) the canteen is open and it is often pleasantly busy on our large lawn, terrace and around the new jetty.
The association has more than 130 members, some of whom are very actively involved. Sailing and instruction are given on Wednesday evenings and tours are organized in the neighborhood or region at the weekend.
Canoeing is an individual sport. Many members travel entirely on their own. The association offers storage space for this. We are affiliated with the Tourist Canoe Association NetherlandsThrough them you can participate in tours and insure your canoe cheaply.
Meeting point
In addition to canoeing, our association is also a meeting point for members, donors, friends and visiting canoeists. Members can use our grounds to enjoy the peace and quiet in the greenery. Members who do not have their own boat can use the club boats on the club days Wednesday evening and Sunday afternoon. If you have shown that you can sail well, an appointment can be made with the board to also be able to use club equipment independently.
Canoe club Sloterplas is not a rental station. With our neighbors Water sports center Sloterplas
(at number 4), canoes, pedal boats, SUP boards, sailing boats, etc. can be rented. They also have a large terrace and bistro.
"You can learn to kayak."
You can learn canoeing and kayaking. We give three series of kayaking lessons. On Wednesday evening or Sunday afternoon. A course series lasts approximately 6 weeks and after that you will be able to sail a short trip with others, without feeling insecure in the boat.
